FEC Listen (Alt-L)
This sets the TNC to the FEC listen operating mode, this
is also referred to as AMTOR standby mode.
By pressing Alt-L a second time to TNC will be switched
into the ARQ Listen (MODE L) mode.
FEC Mode (Alt-F)
This places the TNC into the FEC transmit mode. This
should be used for calling CQ prior to ARQ mode operation.
Use the F5 key to generate an automatic CQ. F5 will
automatically switch the TNC to FEC transmit mode.
ARQ Mode (Alt-A)
This places the TNC into the ARQ selective calling mode. A
dialog box will appear on the screen. To select, press the
enter key once and enter the other stations SELCAL.
Terminate the dialog box by pressing the enter key. This
will send the appropriate commands to the TNC. If the F2
key has previously been used to enter the call, the
proper SELCAL should be present in the ALT-A dialog box.
When in the ARQ mode the change over command "+?" may be
sent by pressing the Page Down key on the keyboard.
To break the link press the F4 key.
To cancel the Selcal window press the 'ESC' key.

ARQ Listen (Alt-L)
This places the TNC into the "ALIST" or eavesdrop mode of
operation. This mode is also referred to as "chirpcopy".
This allows the user to monitor other ARQ contacts.
Alternately pressing Alt-L toggles between the FEC and ARQ
listen modes.
Navtex
Navtex mode allows reception of messages in standard Navtex
format. Navtex is similar to AMTOR FEC. The main
difference is the TNC will wait until the "ZCZC" character
sequence is received before printing any text. All ARRL
bulletins are sent using the NAVTEX format.
SELCAL Mode
This places the TNC into the SELective FEC mode of
operation normally, this mode of operation is used for
nets and round table operation. Enter the station SELCAL
in the dialog box. Press 'ESC' to cancel the dialog box.
APLink Add
This allows the user entries to add to the existing APLink
database.

Enter the call sign, SELCAL, frequency and QTH of the
desired APLink station. Select the Save button to keep the
new data or Cancel to abort the Operation. The frequency
will be used in a later release of XPCOM to allow
automatic rig control.

APLink Boards
This brings up the APLink pick-list. XPCOM is supplied
with the current version of the World Wide APLink
directory. See the appendix on XPAPCONV. The XPAPCONV
utility will convert the standard APLink directory into
the required XPCOM format.

APLink Selector Box
Linking to an APLink Station
To link to an APLink station, first select the station
using either the mouse or keyboard. If not sure about
whole call of the station, use the Find function.
After the station has been selected, use the TAB key to
move to Link, or click on Link with a mouse. The program
will now attempt to link to the chosen station. A future
version will set to radios frequency to desired station.
As a courtesy to other operators, be sure that the
frequency is clear before attempting the link.
Finding an APLink Station
To find an APLink station TAB to the Find button and press
the enter key, or click on the Find button with a mouse.
The program will display a small input box. Enter either
the full call sign of the station or a partial call.
If found, the selector will move to that position.
Modifying an APLink entry
Select the station to be modified using any of the above
mentioned techniques. TAB to the Modify button and press
the enter key or click on the Modify button.
Update the required information and press the Save button
or Cancel to abort the operation.

Deletion of an APLink entry
Select the station to be deleted using any of the above
mentioned techniques. TAB to the Delete button and press
the enter key or click on the Delete button.
Update the required information and press the Delete
button or Cancel to abort the operation.
Pactor Conn Alt-C
This menu option brings up the "Connect to" box for Pactor.
If the other stations call has been entered into the F2 box,
it will appear on the screen. If you wish to abort the link
attempt press the ESC key.
Long Path Pactor Contacts
To establish a long path Pactor link ...
1. Press the Insert Key.
2. Press the exclamation point key.
This parameter changes the timing
characteristics of the Pactor link.
3. Press the return key to start link
attempt.
Pactor Stby
This places the TNC in the Pactor standby mode. This mode of
operation could be used for the leaving the TNC waiting as a
Personnel Pactor Mail Box.
Pactor Listen Alt-P
This places the TNC in the Pactor listen mode. With the TNC
in Listen mode the user will be able to copy both ARQ and
Unproto Pactor transmissions.
NOTE-> If the PK-232 see the MYPTcall in a Pactor Link
request, the TNC will automatically switch over to
Pactor Standby mode and link to the other station.
